What is
Life Design?

The question changes, but the underlying human problem
remains remarkably similar.
The question changes, but the underlying human problem remains remarkably similar.
At 20, it is: “What could I become?”
At 30: “Is this the life I actually want?”
At 40: “Can I have a life that integrates all these things?”
At 50: “What is the next chapter?”
At 60+: “What do I want to do with this next season of my life?”
Life Design gives all of them essentially the same response:
Don’t assume there is one right answer. Imagine possibilities. Reframe the problem. Try things.
Pay attention to what you learn. And design your way forward.
A different way to think about your life—and what comes next
Life Design is the application of design thinking to the most important design challenge of all:
your life.
Instead of assuming that there is one right career, one right identity, or one predetermined path waiting to be discovered, Life Design helps you design, test and evolve possible ways of living and working. It treats your life as something you can actively shape—through curiosity, experimentation, reflection and action.

Design as a Lens

See differently.
Life Design asks us to look at our lives with the curiosity of a designer: questioning assumptions, reframing problems and working with the constraints we have.
Because sometimes, before we change the path, we need to change the way we see it.
We all see our lives through beliefs and assumptions about who we are, what we are capable of, what success looks like and what is possible for us. Making these assumptions visible gives us the freedom to question them, reframe the problem and see choices that weren’t visible before.
The way we see a problem shapes the possibilities we can see within it.
Possibility as a Mindset
Imagine differently.
We often mistake the future we can see for the only future available to us.
Life Design opens up the field, helping us imagine different ways our lives could unfold, rather than searching for the one right answer.

What else could be possible?

Experimentation as a Way Forward
Move differently.
Some things about our future cannot be figured out from a distance. They have to be experienced.
Life Design encourages us to prototype possibilities, learn from what happens, and let what we discover shape what comes next.

You don’t need to know the whole way. You need to find the next step.

The Life Design Journey
1. Where Am I Now? — Assess & Notice
Understand your current life—what is working, what isn’t, and where your energy is going.
Tools: Energy Mapping • Work-Life Balance • Reflection Exercises
2. What’s Getting in My Way? — Reframe
Surface the assumptions and beliefs that may be narrowing your choices—and learn to look at them differently.
Tools: Reframing • Limiting Beliefs • Dysfunctional Beliefs • Narrative Exploration

3. What Really Matters? — Values & Meaning

Clarify what matters most to you and the values you want your life and work to express.
Tools: Values Sort • Meaning & Purpose • Workview & Lifeview

4. What Could My Life Be? — Imagine Possibilities

Move beyond one “right answer” and create multiple possible futures worth exploring.
Tools: Mind Mapping • Odyssey Plans • Alternative Futures • Possible Selves

5. Which Possibilities Feel Alive? — Prototype

Instead of overthinking the future, test it. Use small, low-risk experiments to experience possible paths in the real world.
Tools: Mind Mapping • Odyssey Plans • Alternative Futures • Possible Selves
6. What Am I Learning? — Wayfinding
Notice the signals emerging from your experiments—energy, curiosity, engagement, flow and fit.
Tools: Reflection • Energy Tracking • Flow • Learning Logs • Wayfinding

7. What Next? — Choose & Act

Turn your learning into a direction and identify the next step. Then iterate—as life changes, redesign again.
Tools: Decision Making • Action Planning • Reframing • Iteration
